Noble, Obiang, Nordveidt

That's our weakest part of the team. Would have liked to have seen a decent defensive midfielder brought in. I am far from convinced Nordveidt will be the answer from what I have seen. If he doesn't deliver I would be tempted to stick Kouyate in there as a makeshift.

Adrian
Arbeloa
Masuaku
Reid
Ogbonna
Kouyate
Lanzini
Payet
Ayew
Antonio
Zaza

If they had injuries like we have had in the last 12 myths they wouldn't of got top 6.

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
The temptation looking at Spurs is to think that if we had Kane or an equivalent, we'd finish above them. That leads to the sort of transfer policy we've had this Summer - 20-goal striker or bust. But I think it's a complete illusion basically. Do we play well enough as a team to feed a 20-goal striker? Imo no. And our issues were not goalscoring last season they were defensive. You could argue we've strengthened our defence now with the new full-backs, but that's happened reactively almost by accident (caused by Cresswell's injury and Antonio's incompetence as a full back) rather than because it was planned.

I do think we might stand some chance of finishing above Spurs if a lot of things go right for us and wrong for them. But in a straight fight on the field they just play a lot better than us more consistently - it would take a big swing to change that imo.

We have defo caught up over the last couple of years... I think the fact that our spending will only increase as well is a good sign!!

I think the improvements over the last few years have been great and I see us as the seventh club just below the top six but above the rest like Everton and saints

We need a cup I hope we give the efl cup a good going this year

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
Is Spurs squad really that much better than ours?

GKs

Lloris (Adrian), Vorm (Randolph), Pau (Spiegel)

CBs

Vertonghen (Reid), Aldeweireld (Ogbonna), Wimmer (Collins), Carter-Vickers (Oxford)

FBs

Rose (Cresswell), Walker (Byram), Trippier (Arbeloa), Davies (Masuaku)

CMs

Dembele (Kouyate), Dier (Noble), Wanyama (Obiang), Carroll (Nordveidt)

AMs

Alli (Lanzini), Erikson (Payet), Min (Tore), Lamela (Feghouli), N'Kou-Dou (Ayew), Sissoko (Antonio)

FWs

Jannson (Carroll), Kane (Zaza)...plus we have Sakho, Calleri, Fletcher in addition

Personally I think we have greater strength in depth, with Kane, Lloris and Alderweireld their noticeable strengths over us, and Attacking Midfield in general our noticeable strength over them.

Leeds wanted Fletcher on loan so that's excellent. I can't think many West Ham fans would want to do those bums any favours.

Fletcher can't go out on loan now

Yes he can.

No he can't Trev. FIFA have scrapped the emergency loan system this season. Players going on loan can only go during the two windows

I honestly don't think there is much between ours and Liverpool but agree I think Spurs is better...

I think klopp is going to struggle with expectation of a top 4 finish and see them as top 8 contenders like us

I think both Spurs and Liverpool have a better squad than ours.

Now at of Europe though top 10 is a must and I think the top 8 is very much possible.

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
As for our finish.

The only teams I see that are really above us are:

- Man Utd
- Man City
- Chelsea
- Arsenal (purely for their consistency over many seasons)

After that it is up for grabs and I think our squad is comparable with any other in the league, and our first XI as strong as anyone's.

Equally, Spurs, Everton, Liverpool, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Stoke would all argue the same thing.

Take media darling's Liverpool.

Their starting XI (versus ours) is along the lines of:

Mignolet (Adrian),

Clyne (Byram), Lovren (Reid), Klavan (Ogbonna), Moreno (Cresswell)

Henderson (Noble), Can (Kouyate)

Coutinho (Payet), Wijnaldum (Lanzini), Mane (Antonio)

Firmino (Zaza)

There's not many I'd be desperate to swap from their team to ours.

And im glad, because so far this season he has been the most impressive out of the 6 or so we have

The lad has worked hard, got his head down and took his chance when given it

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
Personally think Fletcher should go out on loan for this season.

The best thing for his development would be playing 1st XI football, week in week out at Championship club challenging for the play offs.

Playing in our reserves, training with the first XI (which he would have done at Man Utd) and getting 5-10 mins here and there and in the cup will not help his development as much as getting 90 mins regularly in competitive men's football.

Scored 8 in 27 playing for Barnsley last season.

When all are fit he's likely to be behind Carroll, Ayew, Zaza, Calleri, and maybe Sakho.

He won't be playing much outside of the cups at best (and they'll be used to give the above who are not playing game time)

And for those that say he won't be behind Calleri - don't kid yourselves. Calleri has pedigree in Men's football in some proper competitions, and is considered a HOT prospect (to the extent we have no agreed option to buy). Just because he didn't settle immediately, he'll still be ahead of Fletcher, and he's looked more likely to score and held the ball up better since he's played.

Fletcher looks like he may well become the real deal...but not yet.

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
i'd be thrilled with 8th to 11th at this point in time.

take last season, add in chelsea and liverpool, take out leicester (maybe) and we are about 8th. but everton and stoke will be better this season.

FFS...give Fletcher a break...

From the little I have seen he does have good basic technical skills...and better skills than Valencia...and Carroll...

Re: Transfer Rumour discussion thread
I'm not having this Fletcher love in. Has done absolutely fuck all so far except look lively but ultimately ineffective. Granted we have been terrible so far and this won't have helped the lad but to heap all this praise in him is ridiculous. Should have gone out on loan

''Mid table mediocrity will be great for us this year''

Steady on Epsom, granted it won't be a disaster, but it will not in any shape or form be 'great' We should be targetting top 7/8.
